The objective of this Bachata Competition is to see which couple can best interpret the character of Bachata music and dance regardless of whatever tricks or moves they do. In other words, it's not the tricks that are important but making them a part of your routine and what Bachata represents.

Championship will consist of one pre-selection heats held in the third week of October and the grand final to be held on the 25th of October 2008 at Petersham RSL.

Official Rules

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

– There is no entry fee.

– Open to all participants living in Australia.

– Participant must be a couple of different gender and must not be professional dancers.

* For the purposes of this competition we deem professional dancers as any dancer giving lessons or teaching and any performing shows. The judges have absolute discretion In this area and their decision will be final.

– A Pre- selection heat will be organised in the third week of October and couples will dance one song drawn from a hat (free style)

– The Grand Final will be on the 25th October and couples will dance two rounds.

First Round: All couples will dance a song drawn from a hat (free style)

Second Round: All couples will dance a choreographed song of their choice. This song must be minimum of 1min 45sec and not exceeding 4min 30sec.

– By entering this contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules.

– The results and decisions of the Judges will be final, binding, and conclusive on all matters.

THE SELECTION HEAT

After registration deadline expires, registered dancers will be notified by email about their performances in the Pre-Selection Heat.

THE GRAND FINAL

After the “pre selection heat” finalists will be notified by email and their names and photographs will be published in Viva Magazine’s website prior to Grand Final.
